This weekend was supposed to be a little warm up for the AMA National to be held in two weeks time here in Sonoma. It didn't really work out all that well because on the Saturday (practice day) it drizzled rain all day, kept the track wet, and kept us from running. Since I'd never seen the track before, it was a little bit of a downer to think that I'd have to compete in the races the following day without knowing which way the next turn goes. They don't have qualifiers at the AFM races so it was bound to be a little dicey. I just followed everyone around for the first few laps of my first race, I ended up picking up the pace a little and finished up in 11th position.
The next race went a little better with my times coming down a little further still and I ended up 9th at the flag but moving through the pack and feeling pretty good about it. At least I got one day of riding in and I sort of know the way the place goes for when I come back here and try to run with the big boys in the AMA. Check back and see how I did!
