Had a great weekend. This was my first ever visit to Willow Springs but the track suits me ..... FAST FAST FAST and you hardly ever use the brakes! There's a serious "local-factor" at Willow that cannot be denied. I was flying in practice, qualifying, and the race and I ended up 21st at the end of it all. This doesn't sound that impressive but to think that I was battling with Mark Junge and Chris Carr for position makes it seem like I must have been going fast. I know that I can improve on my times there by quite a bit and I'm looking forward to my next visit to the place this fall when the AMA makes a stop there. Being from Canada, there was a little satisfaction in flat out beating the entire Canadian Kawasaki Superbike team. Both Jeff Williams and Francis Martin (current Canadian Superbike Champion) were racing and they had been there before. Neil Jenkins (Canadian Superbike rider) was there as well ... he also felt the demoralizing effects of being beaten by the Schmidtastic. Being from Canada but hardly ever competing in any Canadian National events, I've often wondered how I'd stack up to the guys I see winning on TV all that time. It's nice to back my thoughts up with some results!
