I had a great weekend down in Sonoma. Things were looking awesome in practice and qualifying. The only time I can remember feeling so ripped off at an AMA National was 2 years ago in Joliet, Illinois (another cancellation). That's right after we'd been riding on the track for 2 entire days, after I'd qualified my 600cc Yamaha in 14th overall position for the 750 Supersport race, after I'd qualified 9th in my session for the 600 Supersport, they cancelled the event. In between the two 600 Supersport qualifying sessions (they break them into odd and even numbers to allow for more room on the track) it began to rain and basically didn't stop for a day and a half. Sunday was postponed till Monday so we headed into San Francisco for a little terror run on some unfortunate local businesses. Between fart-bomb missions and checking out the local jazz scene we managed to keep ourselves entertained for the day. On Monday it was looking great, sun in the sky, seemingly dry pavement, we're ready to rip! OK, maybe not, it seems there's about 30 square feet of wet track as a result of water seeping through some cracks in the pavement, most of this isn't even on the racing line. Well, after a few snivelling riders say their bit they cancel the thing outright and send everyone home. I was choked. They're talking about rescheduling near the end of August though, bring it on I say!
